Festival of Jewish Culture 2023
The Trenčín Museum in Trenčín was part of the programme of the Festival of Jewish Culture in Nové Mesto nad Váhom, which took place from 15 June to 18 June 2023.
The official part of the festival programme included two lectures by historian Mgr. Martin Vincurský from the Trenčín Museum in Trenčín, a partner of the project. The first lecture „From speeches to pogroms – anti-Jewish conspiracy theories from the Middle Ages to the present day“ was given at 8 o'clock at the M. R. Štefánik Gymnasium in Nové Mesto nad Váhom for the pupils of the school as well as for people from the ranks of the public.
The second lecture entitled „The Arrival and Presence of Jews in the Považie Region in the Middle Ages“ was an accompanying programme to the opening of an exhibition of postage stamps from the private collection of the Israeli collector Yochanan Schwarz. The lecture, as well as the opening and the exhibition, took place in the Podjavorinské Museum in Nové Mesto nad Váhom, which is a branch of the Trenčín Museum in Trenčín, a partner of the project.
